June is the best month to harvest willow bark and at Willowbrook we have lots of bark that needs stripping. Come for the weekend to learn how to strip willow bark and how to make a small diagonal plaited bark basket. Class will be limited to a small group.

Day 1 - Help strip bark from the larger willow that has been allowed to grow for 2+ years. You will get to keep half of what you strip that day (I get to keep the other half)

Day 2 - We will finish up any left over bark stripping and learn to make a small diagonal plaited bark basket with dried willow bark from the previous year. If you already have these skills you are welcome to work on any project with bark.

More Info:

-Class will be held at Willowbrook Basket Farm. Address will be provided upon registration.

-Please dress appropriately. You will be on a working farm and harvesting and handling large rods of willow. I recommend boots and work clothing. There is minimal shade so bring a hat or sunscreen. If it is raining then we will work in the barn, but getting the willow for stripping will require work in the rain. Be prepared!

-Bring your own lunch each day. Drinks and a snack will be available. Kitchenette is available for food prep and storage.

-All tools will be provided but if you have your own feel free to bring them.

-Camping at the farm will be available. Please contact me for more details and cost.

-Facilities include composting toilets

PLEASE NOTE: There are NO Refunds for cancellations. Due to the nature of this small scale business we need to ensure that space is filled to run the workshop. If you signed up and are unable to make it to the class you will need to find a replacement. I will put together a waitlist of contacts that can be provided if needed.
